DPRD: Ahok will Automatically Become Governor

The inauguration of Basuki ‘Ahok’ T Purnama as Jakarta Governor replacing Joko Widodo is only a matter of time. This is because, according to the rules, Basuki will soon become the number one man in the capital city, which also strengthened with a letter from the Home Ministry No. 121.32/4438/OTDA.

Mr. Ahok can automatically become governor because of fix legal binding

Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Chairman, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, admitted that his party has received Home Ministry’s letter regarding the appointment mechanism of Jakarta Vice Governor to become Jakarta Governor for the period of 2012-2017.

“Mr. Ahok can automatically become governor because of fix legal binding. Different with Banten, there is Acting Governor, but since Mrs. Atut (Atut Ratu Choisiyah) has not resigned yet, the Acting Governor’s status remains the same,” he uttered, Wednesday (10/29).

Ahok to Step Ahead as Acting Jakarta Governor

According to Marsudi, DPRD has sent Home Ministry’s letter to DPRD deputy chairmen to be discussed. He also makes sure that the plenary meeting for Basuki’s inauguration will soon be held after the council fittings formed.

“The point is smooth, Ahok will automatically step up as Jakarta Governor). As soon as I received this letter, I handed it out to deputy chairmen to be discussed. I would definitely inaugurate him (Basuki), because if DPRD didn’t, the Home Ministry will,” he stated.

Thus, Marsudi added, the petition proposed by DPRD to the Supreme Court to ask for a fatwa on Government Regulation No. 1/2014 is no longer needed. Likewise if there is a fraction in DPRD rejected Basuki being inaugurated as governor.

“We already have the autonomy letter, thus the fractions cannot reject anymore,” he asserted.
